Fantasy vs. Si-Fi

This is how Altered Carbon, a Netflix show, starts. It is a mind-bending futuristic Si-Fi series that shows the battle on human consciousness in a cloning/virtual reality/ high tech/ AI environment.  Equally fascinating and horrifying to watch.

“The energy of the sky which reigns over the wind, the rain, and the clouds, touched the land and created a massive serge of energy. And with the lake keeping it contained at its center, a country was built.

Because of the county’s great lake, the nation was named Daeho. There are people there who can control the energy of heaven and earth, and they were called Mages.

This tale is a story about the mages of Daeho, a place that cannot be found in history or with a map.”

This is how Alchemy of Souls, a Korean Netflix show, starts. It is a fantasy, love story, magical series about human relationships, nature of man, powers of creation, control, divinity, and beauty.  

I am a sucker for fantasy and Si-fi. The first book I read in English was Stranger In A Strange Land by Robert Heinlein. My friend insisted that to improve my English I need to read. He knew me well enough to give me the best book ever to start with. It took me a year because he was right- my English was a nudge above foreign high school. I couldn’t  stop reading since.

I think I raided all the second bookstores in Denver to find those old treasures for 75c a book. Give me Heinlein, give me Frank Herbert, give me crazy Hyperion by Dan Simmons . Give me Jack L. Chalker- you can’t find his books anymore, the fact that I have his series of The Four Lords of the Diamond is a mystery to me.

But I am also one who read all 13 books of the Confessor by Goodkind even though some of them were painful to finish(probably only for me), I clung with nails I don’t have to the story. It is a fantasy.

Fantasies are like songs. You can say things in a song that you cannot say in real life. Why? I don’t know. Maybe we are shown in a subliminal way that nobility is naivety, and nobody wants to be naïve because it translates to ignorance.  Talk with reason, cover the heart, be polite but don’t expose. Maybe.

Just this month, there was a talk about Elon Musk asking to push the break on AI for a while. I think he said stop for 6 months. To evaluate and understand it better. I wanted to kiss him- I felt that he kept on taking the sensible way, and I appreciate where he comes from.  

Imagine that the artificial intelligence is going to take over. Well, it started years ago.

We already have artificial food for many years. It is sold as food because generally we were unaware of it. We got used to it. It started innocently with the notion of saving a buck, and also mass produce. And you will say, hey, this is not artificial intelligence, and I will say, you are correct. But artificially made food creates the consistency of the body mind that came up with AI. It is the twist of disconnection that brought our society to draw those conclusions. The conclusions of ‘we are not perfect’.   

I don’t know what to say, I’m not perfect. I live too far from grocery stores, I say. But it is just my excuse for buying, although organic, milk that is going to last for 2 months in my fridge. I looked at the expiration date of the milk I bought a week ago 6/14 (today 4/17). Seriously. So here I am aware of it but not reversing to the milk that will last a week. I’ll take the preservatives, it is convenient. Shame on me. Is it?

This is how the artificial started. The ambition to become better. And it generated another business that is called “health industry”.

I am not worried about it too much. I may have a fifty fifty milk, but I also know a 90 years old man that smoked like a chimney all his life but the heart smile on his face radiated health. So I think there is a way to override some things, and I repeat Some Things, from a higher energy. Yes, yes, I said it. I am a health freak to a point. I live my own way, not here to influence or convince you, and definitely not perfect.

In any case, it took us generations to figure out the connection between processed foods and health. I promise you, the cute jellybeans are bad for you.   

Few days ago, my Firefox jumped a Bing page in front of me. The New Bing. It can write you a song, plan your trip, and do so many other things for you- just try it. I didn’t.

Imagine the world in 15-20 years from now. AI is doing everything for you. It will cook for you, iron for you, tell you stories, write for you, think for you. You say, “I need”, and it comes right up.

This is exactly the opposite, inversion, of Christ Consciousness. Christ is manifesting with the grace of god when you let go. You will manifest miracles, you will walk on water, you will get the fish, you will have the wine.

And with AI, you will have it too. On the spot. A miracle. Because something is creating it for you.

Let’s pretend we are there.

Question:

What are humans going to do? Well, I see a few options. 

Option one is to sit down on the couch, play virtual reality and get disconnected.

Option two is to become transhuman and have some parts of the machine so you would merge to communicate instantly; brain to brain.

Option three, goodness, I have everything. I don’t need to work, or worry about anything because it is all done and ready. What an opportunity to develop to Christ consciousness on mass scale.

I am sure there are other options.

The deal is how do we make it to the point that we have a choice? The answer is decentralization.

We are already doing it.

But there is something else that the majority of people don’t take into consideration. Everything is sentient. I don’t even know how to think about it- But I got a feeling. Maybe Elon musk and others like him do, and with their unbelievable abilities solve that mystery and let us know.  

The thing is that we are going there. And every day I am choosing the future between a Fantasy world that is not perfect but full of magic and humanity to a Si-Fi sad world of war to gain humanity back again from downloaded consciousness slates. Sure, there is something in the middle, or something completely different- it is not the point.

And as I practice my dance and tai chi, like a little gorilla girl, I fantasize that I can move the energy of the sky that touched the land and centered in the lake.
